Live from the playtest

Built in the open

Barnburners is made by one person, with real people playing along the way. These numbers come straight from the game, updated live. Every one of them is anonymous and opt-in. The point is simple: show the work, and show that the feedback actually moves the game.

The playtest so far

Where the goals come from

Every goal, mapped

The game logs where each goal was taken from and where it beat the keeper. As players get their hands on the tracking build, these heat up.

Shot origin

Where goals are scored from, attacking the net at the bottom.

Filling upNo player goals logged yet. This lights up when the next demo build with goal tracking reaches players.

Beaten where

Where scoring shots crossed the goal line, keeper's view.

Filling upNet-placement data starts flowing with the next tracking build.

How they went in

Goal types, once the tracking build is live.

Filling upWristers, slappers, one-timers, tips and dekes will break down here as players score.

Where the bodies fly

Hit map

Bodychecks get logged by ice position too. Hit tracking ships in an upcoming build, then this fills in.

Bodychecks by location

Full sheet, both ends.

Coming soonHit-location tracking ships in an upcoming build.

How this works

Anonymous, aggregate, and opt-in

  • Numbers are counted across all players. Nothing here identifies a person or a machine.
  • Telemetry is opt-in and can be turned off in the game at any time.
  • Feedback is shown as sentiment and common themes only, never anyone's exact words.
  • Developer test machines are filtered out, so this reflects players, not me poking at it.
